Bad habits

I can't really say how this made the news because I figured most people know this, but if you smoke, drink excessively, and are lazy, your life expectancy is lowered by 12 years. I know this is shocking, but its a fact (they researched it in Chicago using British people). Smoking causes a tar buildup in the lungs which leads to breathing problems; it also may cause pretty much every cancer imaginable. It is said that drinking one glass of red wine every night is good for you, but too much more than that and you eliminate a few years. Laziness causes a lack of exercise which allows your body to burn off those calories from the delicious cookies you had with lunch today.

I must say I don't agree completely with this. Smoking takes way more than 12 years (every pack of cigarettes or it could be every cigarette smoked takes away 14 minutes of life). An occassional drink is good for a person (I guess I wouldn't know) but from what I hear that's correct. Also, there's nothing wrong with getting some exercise. Most people I know feel better if they go for a jog between homeword assignments or just jog for fun.

DWTS

Dancing with the stars obviously has a lot of perfomers and professional dancers on the show. However, one dancer is Kate Gosselin. Mother of 8 and recently divorced, she has also been recently voted off the popular show. Other entertaining dancers include: Jake Pavelka, Chad Ochocinco, Erin Andrews, Pamela Anderson, and Nicole Scherzinger. The majority of these listed have experience being in front of a public audience.
I do not think Kate Gosselin should have been on the show. Her only form of "performing" was on J0hn and Kate +8 which definitely doesn't count. Jake Pavelka also doesn't "perform" but he is young, and athletic unlike Kate whose had 8 children. Most of the other performers are not only used to performing in front of a live audience, but they've also had dance lessons.

It's been seen that Amish people are exampt from health care rules. The new health care laws passed by President Obama require all Americans to have or purchase health insurance or they will face punishments. However, the Amish traditionally do not have health care or social security as they believe the church is in charge or should be in charge of everything not the government. Amish people do not vote either, showing that they do not participate in most activities other Americans participate in.
Personally, I don't see why people are being forced to purchase health insurance. Those who don't want it (I dont know why they wouldn't want health insurance) but if they don't want it the government shouldn't be able to force them to purchase it. Also, a large percentage of people who don't have health insurance can't afford it. They may not have a large enough income to pay for health insurance, taxes on their home and everything else, and transportation. Some people simply cannot afford it; thus, it is unfair for the government to punish those who don't or can't purchase health insurance.

Moscow Bombings

Previously this week, two Russian women bombed Moscow causing Russia's panic about terrorism to rise again. The two women were suicide bombers and managed to kill 38 people. Russia has been able to avoid the majority of terrorism for nearly 5 years; however the lader wants to step up their defense against terrorism and punishments for captured terrorists.

I understand why Russia is panicked. Their economy wasn't too strong and was just begining to recover before the international worldwide crisis. Adding to terrorism would naturally cause havoc. However, I don't agree with their leader increasing punishment. higher security would make sense. Clearly their defanses against terrorism are pretty good otherwise they wouldn't have gone over 5 years without an attack or even a threat. I would leave the threat of punishment as it is and increase security in public areas especially public transport.
